A. look for a store that's more local/family owned. and ask the manager if you can make a movie, just as long as your not gonna make a big mess he will most likely say yes.

How do outlet stores work? How do they keep their prices so low?
Q. I believe originally outlet stores sold merchandise that was damaged or imperfect. At a later time, companies started manufacturing items specifically for their outlets -- items that might be at a slightly lower quality than you'd find in the regular retail stores. I recently found a Sears outlet that had amazing prices on flat-screen TVs. How do they do this? Is there something wrong with the TVs? Why would somebody buy the same TV at the regular store when you can go to the outlet and buy it for much less (unless that's the catch... it's not the same TV)? Basically, what's the catch with outlet stores?
Asked by David B - Sat Jun 30 17:51:36 2007 - - 3 Answers - 1 Comments

A. There is no catch.. It's buyer beware. Sometimes you can buy things from a retailer for less than at the outlet stores. People have been so fooled into buying STUFF. There are huge markups on so many items. A shirt might cost $1 to manufacture and sells for $60-$100 If you buy in volume or cut the label the price changes. Outlet Stores are just MORE stores and places to shop til u drop. It is a misconception that you will always buy at an outlet store for less. People who make TV's MUST keep selling TV's, they will do whatever they have to. The will add a letter to the model number and call it a new/different model, or change an option. The old ones go to the outlet store and the main store no longer carries that "old" model. It's… [cont.]

When do most stores start selling light weight jackets?
Q. I want a light weight jacket. Those jackets that are made of Polyester or Nylon and are not to thick Right now only a few stores are selling light weight jackets, but i don't like those stores (JC Penny etc). But most stores like Gap, Old Navy, Express, H&M etc do r not selling these jackets. Right now the jackets I see are really thick coats. I want a thin one. So when do most stores start selling this type of jacket?
Asked by Cool College MienGuy - Sat Dec 26 23:55:00 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. In the spring. Dude I love H&M and your right about them not selling those jackets. They have a bunch of pea coats and all and its hard to find them. Stores sell the thick ones because its winter man. Gap, old Nav, Express, Jcrew, Urban outfitters etc aren't gonna sell too much light weight. What you need to do is just wait til Spring hits. Once spring comes, they are gonna come in. Hope I helped out.

What kind of department stores are located downtown?
Q. Wal-mart has recently been labeled as theIdentityy of America. But there are not many downtown locations of the super store, as well as it's competitor Target. So can anyone tell me for a city like New York, what department store options do you have to buy say a light bulb that you can't get at a grocery store. Or do you have to go outside the city to access these department stores?

What stores are great to shop at for home furniture and everything else?
Q. Im going to start fresh and new at a new place, so I need everything. I want to get good quality things for my home but without the need of going to expensive stores to get them. Ive seen things like furniture at stores like target but I don't know if they really are good quality. Any help please? I live in California.

A. Congratulations on your new place. As a professional home stager and real estate investor, I am frequently looking for inexpensive quality furniture and accessories, so here are a few of my favorite recommendations: 1) Furniture rental clearance centers (see if there is a CORT clearance center or American Furniture rentals in your area) - they offer great discounts on furniture, artwork, and accessories 2) Hotel liquidation centers - Universal Hotel Liquidators is the one I've used; great quality and prices on everything 3) TJ Maxx (HomeGoods) - has absolutely fabulous accessories, linens, artwork, and light furniture Hope this helps. What stores sell biodegradable silverware?
Q. I'm planning an event that needs biodegradable silverware. But the only places I'm seeing that sell them are online. Unfortunately, I've waited til the last minute, and need to get them fast! So, I need to be able to just buy them in a store. Has anyone found biodegradable silverware in any stores?
Asked by yer m - Wed Aug 5 02:01:58 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You want silverware, like metallic and shiny? I'm not sure metal is that biodegradable. Why not try something like cornstarch utensils? If you're willing to go to Palo Alto, there's a store called World Centric which sells all sorts of biodegradable products, including utensils. I know that High Tech Burrito in Los Gatos uses biodegradable utensils, you could ask if you can take them. This is their website, just scroll down to "Los Gatos"

What will department stores do with returning clothes?
Q. What will department stores do with returning clothes? I saw so many people returning clothes and other items in department stores. I wonder if the stores will put those clothes back to regular racks? Or the items will become clearance items?
Asked by ask - Tue Oct 16 17:20:15 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. They will put it back on the rack if it's in good condition. If it is damaged or if it is an older item they are no longer selling it will go to "salvage" where they basically write it off and send it back to the warehouse. Some of it may eventually make it to the outlet stores.

What can electronic stores do about a computer with pirated software?
Q. I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about the whole concept of pirated (stolen) music, movies, software etc. Regardless of your opinion on the whole subject, my question is relating to the actuality of what can/should/ is done about these laws. If someone were to take their computer in to an electronics store to have something repaired or cleaned, etc, do those stores report the person? Or is there some kind of confidentiality agreement. I suppose with movies and music it would be hard to tell, but I guess my question relates more specifically, but is not limited to software.

A. They won't actually do anything. It would hurt their business. Besides, why would they bother checking if your copy was legit, perhaps you just changed a Network card and added memory. They could refuse to work on it though. What could happen, is if they have to format, they will charge you for installing a legit copy, since they will not install an illegal one. Another little hint, don't bother with SP3, IE7 or IE8. Sp3 uses a lot of resources for security and such that joe average doesn't need. lol, who is going to hack my computer for the 99 cents I keep in my aux account. *lol*

A. Local business gazettes Accountants specialising in receivership work Trade bodies Landlords of commercial properties (rent is one of the first things a failing business stops paying) For the actual equipment you could try eBay and setup some Google Alerts (google it) where you get alerted when a new page comes online containing your terms (e.g. "shop fittings").

A. Like a lot of other people said there is the Niagara Falls Outlet Mall. Personally I think it's very expensive compared to other Malls in the area. If you travel 20 minutes south of there there's quite a few malls around the city of Buffalo. such as the Boulevard Mall in Amherst, NY on Niagara Falls Blvd. then there's the Eastern Hills Mall on Transit Road in Williamsville and then there's the Walden Galleria Mall on Walden off Interstate 90 in Cheektowaga. They have much better prices than the Niagara Falls Outlet Mall. The Outlet mall jacks up their prices cause they know lots of Canadians and tourist will shop there just like many of the other stores in Niagara Falls. What are some retail stores that require a paper application?
Q. I have applied to over 20 stores online and I do not seem to get anywhere. I'm unemployed straight of college and just want a simple retail job. I figure that maybe the trick to getting this job is to apply in person that way I can get the manager's attention. What are some retail stores that still accept paper applications or are exclusively paper applications only. Thanks in advance.

How do I know stores actually pay the sales tax to the IRS?
Q. How do I know that stores are not using some fancy accounting to show less sales and trying to pocket some of the sales tax they collect from us? What kind of accountability is in the tax system to assure people of this? I know it all seems to work in theory, but I have my doubts that all stores honestly file their sales taxes.
Asked by thedogfromduckhunt - Tue Apr 11 18:32:46 2006 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. First of all sales taxes are state and or municipal taxes and are not collected by the IRS but rather by the particular state's revenue authority. As far as sales tax not being remitted by an individual merchant this is entirely possible. I am sure it happens frequently in cash based businesses. The only deterrent is the threat of an audit and the resulting interest and penalties. It is not unlike a circumstance where you mow your neighbors yard for $50 cash a week. What assurance is there that you will pay income tax on this? Not much. It is the same with a business where revenue transactions are not supported by W2's and 1099's. Until a revenue agent goes in and takes a look, sales tax can go by unremitted to the taxing… [cont.]
