The rollers are an Old World family, Coraciidae, of near passerine birds related to the kingfishers and bee-eaters. The group gets its name from the aerial acrobatics some of these birds perform during courtship or territorial flights.

Rollers resemble crows in size and build, ranging from 25 to 27 centimetres in length. They share the colourful appearance of kingfishers and bee-eaters, blues and pinkish or cinnamon browns predominating. The two inner front toes are connected, but not the outer one. Their calls are "repeated short, gruff caws".

They are insect eaters, with Eurystomus species taking their prey on the wing, and those of the genus Coracias catching it on the ground. They often perch prominently whilst hunting, like giant shrikes.

These are birds of warm climates. They are monogamous and nest in an unlined hole in a tree or in masonry, and lay 2–4 eggs in the tropics, 3–6 at higher latitudes. The eggs, which are white, hatch after 17–20 days, and the young remain in the nest for approximately another 30 days.

How do i overcome a fear of a roller coaster ride?
Q. I know there are a lot of questions like this, but i think this one is different. My friends are making me go to a theme park and i really don't want to. They all love roller coasters, but i don't. For me, it's not the heights, or throwing up. It's that feeling in your entire body when u go down the slope of the roller coaster. And don't tell me to just go and i'll love it. I've went on roller coasters before and i absolutely HATE it.

A. If it's the weightless kind of feeling when the roller coaster is going down hill that you don't enjoy, I'd say just don't go on them. Plenty of people just don't like that feeling and it's not okay that you feel you have to go on rides you don't like. Just go on the stuff you do like and ignore the comments from your friends. Maybe you can find someone else to go along who likes the same rides you do. You can still have fun at alot of these parks even if you don't do the big roller coasters. Check out the park on line and see what other things they have and you may find some rides you'll enjoy. One quick note though, if the last time you went on a coaster was awhile ago you may not have the same problems now that you had the last… [cont.]

What are the mechanics behind roller skating?
Q. When you're roller skating on a flat surface, how do you achieve forward acceleration? I haven't skated in about 20 years, but I think you accelerate by shifting your weight forward and to sides, back and forth, and this averages out to forward acceleration. Is this close?

A. Not quite. When skating on a flat surface on quads or inline skates the safest and most efficient forward motion is best achieved with side push and minimal body movement. If you think of each skating foot as being an individual scooter, forward motion comes from the keeping body weight over one skate (the employed skate) while pushing to the side and back with the other skate (the free skate). The more control a skater has in keeping the feet close for the transfer of feet, and the more the skater keeps his/her body over the skate that is supporting their weight the faster and safer the skating. Skating happens when a sequence of right and left foot scooter pushes are done in a sequence. The only body movement is the slight shift of… [cont.]

What are bee related names for a roller derby team?
Q. We are doing a spelling bee fundraiser for a non-profit agency which involved team themes and we are the Roller DerBEEs. However we need individual names for our players now. We need at least three names for female players that are related to bees, and the more aggressive sounding the better! Thanks for your help.
