Q. I have an old motorguide trolling motor that doesn't work. A friend gave me his working motorguide, but the switch on the foot pedal doesn't work. The switch on my broken motor does work, so I wanted to swap the switches. The switch is that one on the pedal itself that lets you pulse the motor (not the three way swich below the speed control). I am afraid to just swap the entire foot control because my old one is 12 volt and the new one is 24 volt. Also, I don't want to take apart the motor head if I can avoid it. I have taken all of the screws off of the bottom of my foot control, but it won't come apart. The base is still stuck on there. I have tried prying gently with a screwdriver, but it is definitly attached somehow. Any ideas how… [cont.] Asked by jvelvetpants - Sun Sep 23 13:16:23 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Are you sure there isn't a pin that runs threw the side for the foot control. It may have one that has to be removed. It should have a clip on one end of it. Other wise, remember they are sealed to make them water proof. If that's the case. put a scraper between it and pry it gently. It most luckily has a ridge and gasket in it, that is meant to seal it water tight. Do not put a 12 volt switch on a 24 volt system. It will burn up. Good luck. Answered by megofish2day - Sun Sep 23 17:16:12 2007 What can I do to start my outboard motor? Q. I haven't used my outboard motor for some time and when I tried to start it the other day, it would not start. It had sat without being started for at least a month, maybe two. I can pull the cord, but the motor does nothing. It worked fine last time I used it. And, when I was done with it, I ran fresh water through it and ran the motor like I always do. I just forgot to start it up from time to time, so now I think the motor is dried up or whatever and won't start. Anyone have remedies for this? Q. I would like to know if I invest in a electric boat motor if I will be stranded on a windy day. Is an electric boat motor compaired to a 9.9 hp gas motor? Asked by michsuzie - Sun Oct 19 19:22:36 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. HP is an HP whether it's electric, gas diesel or steam. That's the short answer. Length of running time on charge is the limiting factor.
