A. Ballasts are usually about $40. The rest, I can't speak to. Look at www.grainger.com to see what the prices are going to be, then take the part number, and go to www.drillspot.com and order the stuff. (You need to have a business license in order to buy directly from Grainger.) You can also check out www.mcmaster.com

What is the best electronic trigger for my spyder shutter?
Q. I dont want to get rid of my spyder shutter but i want it to go full auto. Is there a specific electronic trigger I should buy? And do I have to get that electronic board? I know I can upgrade the shutter to full auto and i'm thinking about getting a 16" barrel thanks in advance.

A. full auto isn't allowed on 90% of fields. it's beyond pointless. unless you want 2 make a youtube vid showing how fast your gun can put out paint, full auto = pointless. any spyder e-trigger would work though. and yes, you get a board with it.

A. I recommend neither. Vehicle paint and corrosion inhibitors have advanced a great deal, and this is a service that I believe is not necessary on new vehicles. The components that are prone to corrosion problems are suspension components anyway, and not body parts and they will not help with this. Do not waste any of your money on these unnecessary services.

Q. How common is having an electronic organizer among college students? I never noticed my friends having one though. However, I thought it will be helpful since I am always disorganized during school time. Another question, can you suggest good but affordable types of electronic organizers?

A. i've never seen anyone using an electronic organizer.. if they do use one, it's probably using their blackberry or something like that. don't waste your money.. most schools give out planners with self-organizing tips anyway. if you really need one after the first semester, then get one.

What is the differance between Techno and electronic?
Q. What is the differance between Techno and electronic? Also, what is the differance between electronic music and electronica? (Electronic with an A at the end.) If there isn't a difference between electronic and electronica, why do they use both? My MP3 player is getting cluttered with "Techno" "Electronic" "General electronic" and "Electronica" all by the same artist, and I'm just wondering why they are all different.

A. Electronic Music (or sometimes known as Electronic Dance Music, EDM) is a term used to identify any music using electronic music instruments or technology. Electronic Music is the main genre and everything else are sub-genres. Usually Electronic is not used to describe a single song unless it combines the characteristics of many sub-genres, but I think iTunes and other music players are a bit stupid with the automatic genres they put on. It's best to edit and put what you want on so it's not all cluttered. Electronica is a sub-genre of Electronic. It's used to identify newer, contemporary music or crossover genres (folktronica, indietronica, funktronica etc). It usually combines different instruments that are not all electronic, with… [cont.]

A. In a traditional sense, cigarettes are products with a large number of unhealthy element, which is harmful to human bodies. However, the digital age has given today s smokers new means of smoking, the invention of electronic cigarette is the main reason. Mini electronic cigarettes are widely used in public libraries and they serve both the smokers and non-somkers. For years it has been possible to buy nicotine patches and gum. However, these are often unsuccessful. For smokers, smoking is all about habit. Sneaking five minutes out of the office for a cigarette, having a smoke after a meal and more importantly, with a beer or wine. Unfortunately, patches or gum are never going to help break the habit. A. There aren't any electronic repellers, but you could look into flea traps. Basically, they are just little heat lamps with glue under them. The heat attracts the fleas, that jump over the trap and die on the glue. You can read about them and get them here:

What is the best electronic alternative to a checkbook?
Q. I am considering a PDA (Palm OS 5) that syncs with my desktop. It is clear to me that having my finances in electronic form would have some real advantages. A portable device makes the most sense to me because I don't want to use my home computer to enter every transaction. But whatever I use needs to be reliable and user friendly. Please share your experience and any recommendations. Thanks!

A. If you really just want to duplicate a checkbook electronically, consider using a spreadsheet in Google Docs. You could be updating it from PDA or home or work or anywhere else, and it's really very nice. I'm using Docs for all sorts of things.

What is the best electronic drum set for college?
Q. I am a senior in high school and I want an electronic drum set to accompany me to college so that I can put in headphones and not get kicked out of my dorm. Compactness and portability are necessary for me. I want to give my roommate part of the room too, and I need to be able to take it home over Christmas and stuff like that. I also don't want to go over $1000. What would be my best bet?
Asked by musicman72591 - Sat Nov 8 17:15:06 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You are spoilt for choice there. The Roland Vdrum kits such as TD3 and TD6 are favourites. You may also find the newer TD9 as well. This is a great kit and pretty compact too. Go for mesh heads as these are quieter and feel better to play. Alternatively if space is a problem, look at a compact pad such as the Roland SPD-S. or even go the laptop option using something like an Alesis Control pad. This includes BFD lite drum software and has foot trigger options as well. Heck for a grand you could afford the pad, foot triggers, BFD 2 ( which knocks V drum sounds for 6) and maybe even your laptop Good Luck

What is a good electronic piano for a beginner?
Q. I'm interested in buying a fully weighted electronic piano. I'm just starting out and am interested in doing contemporary piano pieces as well as the option to hook up to an apple computer to work with certain music applications. A lot of people recommend yamaha pianos, though I'm not sure what to look for. I'm looking for a full range of price points from "starter" pianos as well as ones that would last me longer.
Asked by Patrick - Sat Jul 5 15:18:51 2008 - - 4 Answers - 2 Comments

A. Yamaha is a good one to start with. About 5 years ago, they came out with the DGX line of pianos. The 88 key version of it (DGX-500) is lightly weighted. It's a first generation model. They've since come out with the 505 and 510 models. Each of these sound exactly identical to the original, but with a few more bell and whistles that you probably don't need. You can find the original model on ebay for about $350 which is very reasonable, and it sounds amazing for the price. I've been playing and composing for 12 years, and I've been using this model since it came out, and still love it. It's great for beginners as well as seasoned veterans without a bunch of extra cash. And no, I don't work for Yamaha. This is my own experience.

How does a 2 wire 24 volt ac electronic thermostat work to control a gas fired furnace ?
Q. Have moved into a house where previous owner replaced simple mechanical type thermostat (with mercury bulb) with an electronic unit. Mechanical type obviously just closes a contact to complete the gas valve circuit and so get 24V across gas valve coil. Obviously 2 wire electronic unit cannot do this because the unit needs to draw power for the electronics. The new thermostat is giving unreliable operation, am thinking of replacing it with the old unit which I found and appears to be functional (checked with multimeter). Extra information : Heater only, have used W and R terminals at furnace, also used W and R at thermostat. The thermostat also has Y and G terminals but no wires connected to these.
Asked by wimafrobor - Sun Jul 8 04:52:08 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. you are correct, the electronic tstat needs to be powered, some cheaper thermostats will operate on 2 AA batteries(junk in my opinion) or the other will actually be powered from the 24 volts on the unit transformer, verify that its wired correctly, is this just a furnace or is there also a cooling unit with this system? heat only: you should have 3 wires, one wire connected between Rh on unit and Rh on stat, one wire between C on unit and C on stat, and one wire between W on unit and W on stat. the wires to Rh and C will power the stat, W is the open contact on the stat that will close when a call for heat has occured.

Why is it that different electronic chargers work differently with different devices?
Q. Such as cell phones vs. gps systems? Is it true that if you use a highly powered charger to give a device too much of a charge than it will fry it's electronic brain or whatever it may be called?
Asked by Ryan P - Mon Sep 22 23:55:43 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There are two quantities that define a charger a) Voltage Output b) Max power consumed by device (which defines max Amps driven) A charger can provide more amps than needed, but a higher voltage input can indeed fry the device.

How do you clean an electronic furnace filter?
Q. The furnace is making a constant crackling sound when it runs. On the electronic furnace filter box it says it will arc occasionally but if it arcs continuously then the filter needs cleaning. My dad used to clean it by soaking it in something but he has passed away so now I don't know what to do about it or what chemical if any to use. Please help.
Asked by jspur1 - Mon Dec 25 23:24:53 2006 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I have no idea what he "soaked it in" it shouldn't need "soaking" only a wipe with a soft wet cloth like a terry cloth . The arc you hear is an electric arc from static electricity shorting through the filter. Make sure up turn anything off first, then try wiping. If this doesn't work, call the company that makes it. There should be a name somewhere on it. This is a type of 'Osmosis system" which is an static electric system. Easy wiping is what they're noted for.

How do I install an Electronic brake control to my 2007 Dodge 2500 pickup?
Q. My truck came with the trailer package, rear connector in bumper. I am now trying to install a Prodigy electronic brake controller. Shouldn't my Dodge 2500 have a connector somewhere under the dash?
Asked by Brian M. C - Sat Feb 16 18:44:34 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you don't already have one, pick up a Prodigy to Dodge pigtail. It makes the installation simple. Check out this thread on Pirate for the pics, and how-to: I've ben using my Prodigy for years now (it was in my 95, and now in my 04 Dodge) and love it! PS - it looks like the pics on that thread are kaput, which stinks. On my 04, the connector is above the pedals (it's blue colored, IIRC). I had to unplug the main harness connector to get room to plug in the controller. Good luck!
