3 is half of 8, what secret society hacked this cryptic clue in our Arabic Numerals and why?
Q. Davinci was not the only one to encrypt secret messages. Our Arabic numerals is an example-- half of 8 is 4, but only in the mathematical sense (for those right brained thinkers). The Graphic sense (for those left brain thinkers) show us another side, in this case half of 8 is 3. When counting from 1-10 and straight along your fingers (given that you have the standard 10) you will find that 3 and 8 each land on a middle finger. Is this coincidence, or a secret code? Lets explore. The numbers 3 and 8 were changed from their original Arabic characters around 1800 years ago. This is also interesting: Early Pagans -- fertility cult worshipers were often persecuted for their beliefs-- mainly because they worshipped a femal deity equal to that… [cont.]

What does an 8 gauge piercing look like without the earring in it?
Q. I want to get my ears gauged to about an 8, but if I have to take it out for work will it be extremely noticeable? Does anyone have pictures of their 8 gauge piercing?
Asked by k_train_21 - Sun Feb 24 19:56:43 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Usually 8g piercings look like slightly stretched ear piercings without jewelry. Think of a regular ear piercing, how it makes that little round hole. Now imagine it slightly larger. An 8g stretch isn't going to just hang there completely open to full size unless you had it punched out at that size which is unlikely or you have particularly thin, dangly ears which is also unlikely. People may notice it and ask you what happened to your ears, but its not going to be a case of people being able to look right through your lobe with no jewelry in place. It will just look like something a little strange happened to your regular ear piercings. If you stop wearing 8g jewelry all together, odds are your piercing will close up more in a few… [cont.]

A. QB: Donovan McNabb RB1: Leron McClain RB2: Michael Turner WR1: Larry Fitzgerald WR2: Vincent Jackson TE: Antonio Gates K: Ryan Longwell D/ST: Miami This costs 299 points, so if you want to use mine, and just revise it a little, you don't have any points to work with. Good luck, and hope this helps.

Asked by seasidesunset - Wed Dec 24 16:38:00 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yahoo! Cannot control/edit/change the email address that an auto-form-filler is placing in that bar. However, it is always important to make certain that you review your email message before you send it, as your email provider cannot be held responsible for what its servers are told to do by the information entered. Typically, auto-form-fillers (which IE8 comes with, as does the new version of Yahoo if the emails are in your contact list) will use historical data to try to suggest the address you're attempting to put in, much like predictive text on a cell phone. Ultimately, the best 'defense' would be to either turn off any form-filling add-ons in your browser, or simply review what is in your To: line whenever you send an email (which… [cont.]

A. ya, im pritty sure we had a few guys do this from the national guard. and with the reseves since its strickly federal and not state, than i think it would be more likly to happen. you can serve 4 years in college, and then do three active, and then you either have one year left on reseves, or the active time might cover it, im not too sure, you should talk to the rotc section at your college just to make sure it will work.

Q. He eats his last bottle around 8 pm and then will sleep until 4:30, I have to get up an hour later, so this kinda sucks. Is there anything I can do to get him to sleep until I need to wake up?
Asked by Coffee Mom - Thu Sep 6 15:20:29 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It does suck, my daughter wakes up at 12:30 am and 4 am and I have to get up around 5:15 am to start getting ready for work. Have you tried feeding him just a little bit later, around 8:15 or so? Sleep with babies is one of the most frustrating issues, and contrary to what some people are saying; cereal in a bottle does not necessarily mean your baby will sleep longer. It may work, it may not. Some nights I feed my daughter solids before bed and she still wakes up at the same time each night. When he's ready he'll start sleeping a little longer, just hang in there.

How many ways can 5 identical rooks be placed on an 8-by-8 board so that 4 of them form a rectangle?
Q. How many ways can 5 identical rooks be placed on an 8-by-8 board so that 4 of them form a rectangle? This is a combinatorics problem I don't know how to solve. I know the total ways to put the rooks on the board is (8!)^2, but I don't know how to find what I subtract. I would appreciate an explanation on how to solve this. Thanks for the help!
Asked by Gabriel D - Thu Jan 29 21:59:04 2009 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments

A. I don't see what the fifth rook is for... but let's do all five and see. There must be four rooks that make up the rectangle. Choose two rows and two columns. These will define our rectangle completely - these intersect in four places and form the rectangle. Put four rooks there. Number of choices: (8C2) (8C2) Now the last rook can go anywhere except the four places you've used up, which gives you 60 choices. Answer: 60 (8C2)^2 = 47040

A. I'd love to help you but what you're asking for is impossible. It is physically impossible to gain that much in such a short time. You could realistically expect to gain 1-2 pounds per week and that's assuming you're training and getting enough calories. To give you an idea. 8 pounds is roughly equivalent to 28000 calories. So you would need to take in 2000 additional calories per day. I'm a powerlifter and I weigh 250, I eat around 4500 calories a day. I gain 1 maybe 2 pounds a week if I'm lucky. Chances are you don't eat more than 2000-2500 calories a day. So imagine eating twice what you eat now. Even if you did that, your body just will not gain more than a certain amount in a given time. So simply put, no matter what you… [cont.]

A. It's really quite simple. For the past several years, interest rates have been low, and money has flowed rather easily through the economy. Lower interest rates usually lead to greater spending, and this helps the economy. The downside of this is that lower interest rates drive investors away to other currencies where interest rates are higher. This increases exports and decreases imports, because the dollar buys fewer foreign goods, but domestic goods are priced at a discount versus foreign goods. This cycling helps with Balance of Trade, but it can develop into inflation, so interest rates tend to rise to combat this. This increase in interest rates caused turmoil in world markets, because it caused major adjustments for those who… [cont.]
