What's the difference between in 5 minutes and after 5 minutes?
Q. Can I say "I will leave in 5 minutes." ="I will leave after 5 minutes." Do you use "up to 5 minutes"? People say "You can spend up to 25 dollars." Does it mean you can spend more than 25 dollars? Please state your explanation. Thanks!

A. "I will leave in 5 minutes" means that when 5 minutes is up you are leaving. "I will leave after 5 minutes." means that you can leave anytime after 5 minutes has passed. Yes, it may only be 5 min, but it could also be any length of time after the 5 min. When you say "You have up to 5 minutes" It means that you must leave within that 5 minutes, but no more. "You can spend up to $25" means that you are allowed to spend no more than $25. To say you mean that someone has to spend more than $25 you would say "You have to spend at least $25." hope that helped!

Q. I need help on how to solve this problem, can you please explain how you did so I can understand. Power of 5 is like 5^x and remember, it's the LARGEST power of 5 that DIVIDES the PRODUCT of 1x2x3...98x99x100. Thanks! The product of those integers is a multiple of 5 because I've found a pattern showing it would end with 0. I still don't have the answer though.

A. The only numbers that contribute to this power of 5 are those that are multiples of 5. There are 100/5 = 20 multiples of 5. Also, multiples of 25 = 5^2 contribute another power of 5 apiece. There are 100/25 = 4 multiples of 25. So, the largest power of 5 dividing 100! is 20 + 4 = 24.

How do you determine 5 years to apply for citizenship?
Q. I'm wondering. I know that we have to stay in US for 5 years or more to apply for citizenship. But, does 5 years counted exactly from the date we became a US resident, or just roughly from the year we became a resident ( 5 days before 5 exactly 5 years ok to apply)? Thank you for your response...

A. Look at the date you became permanent resident by looking at your green card and it is stated right there on top of where it says expiration of green card date. You calculate 5 years from that date (not the date you actually might have received the physical card in the mail). It is essentially your green card application was formally approved. You can only apply three months prior to becoming eligible.
