How do you restore the Yahoo Search Engine functions after it was affected by a virus ?
Q. I want to know how the Yahoo Search Engine can be restored to normal when a spyware and/or other viruses affected the system. I have been downloading some anti-spyware programs, such as Spybot, to reverse the effects and I want to know what applications I can used to turn the search engine back to normal. I have my Yahoo Search Engine results mixed with different web addresses. Thanks.

A. I had the same problem a few weeks ago and i fixed it without installing anything. It's a virus called "go.google". I tried installing stuff and still didn't work. The next steps worked for me so I guess this is the best way. Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices. Scroll down to Non-plug and Play Drivers and click the plus icon to open those drivers. Then search for TDSSserv.sys Right click on it, and select Disable Note: If you select Uninstall, it will install itself again when you reboot the system, so DON T select Uninstall. Restart your pc. Q. Take any 10 words from the 3rd paragraph of a story that appears on page 5 of any newspaper - then paste that info into the search engine. Do a search and flick onto the 16th top entry and just leave it there. Hopefully the search engines that follow our movements will think that we are particularly interested in a topic and sell that piece of information on to advertisers not thinking it is pure rubbish. Therefore making a mockery of the search engines data gathering and ultimately unproductive. Have you any ideas?

Can a search engine spider read a page that is protected against being copied?
Q. I have a few articles posted that I disabled the copy command on. The page can still be saved by a visitor, and the source viewed, but they can't highlight the text to copy it. I'm wondering however, if the search engine robots can access that text or not. I'm thinking they might not be able to and am hoping someone who has more web knowledge than I do can answer it. I couldn't find anything on the web about it.

As you have said that you want yahoo as your home page you can delete the text that is in the box and paste either of these in to it and click OK when your done. Yahoo home page address: yahoo.com Yahoo search page address: search.yahoo.com You may need to restart Firefox before the changes take place. Don't forget to click OK when your done.

Q. It is right in center of page. I am very happy with my Yahoo search engine. I don't google horning its way into my Yahoo.

A. In Firefox go to tools, then options, if the general tab is open then where it says home page you should be able to type in the web address of the page you want to appear as your home page in Firefox.
